Turrid Shells
Family: Turridae. The largest of all mollusk families in number of species. Found in all of the world's seas from shallow to abyssal depths. Some turrid shells harpoon their prey in the same manor cone shells attack their prey.
Turrid Sea Shells Lophiotoma acuta. This seashell is common to shallow and deep waters of the Indo-Pacific. It is the most wide spread of all living turrid sea shells. Measures approx 1. 5". Available by the dozen for collectors or by the gallon for crafters.
