Family: Melongena. This group is usually found in muddy or brackish waters near mangroves in tropical regions. They are carnivorous and normally feed on oysters and clams. The King's Crown (Melongena corona) is native to Florida and can be found from the Florida Panhandle to the Florida Keys.
